Suffering creatures

I would just like to write to say how much I applaud The
Jakarta Post in being so supportive of conservation and
environmental issues.

Another excellent article in July 31 edition brings readers'
attention again to this horrific trade in animals that abounds
here and how helpless we all seem to be in trying to do something
about it.

As there is near me a very large, sad gibbon kept captive in a
miserable situation, I for one would appreciate to know, from the
"Powers that be" what legal steps, if any, can be taken to
alleviate this poor creature's suffering.
