Sued in Court Over Quiz Competition Controversy, Here is the MPR Chairman's Response
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani claims he is unaware of the lawsuit filed by advocate David Tobing related to the judging controversy in the Final Quiz Competition (LCC) on the Four Pillars of the MPR RI 2026 at the West Kalimantan provincial level.
Muzani said that the MPR apparatus will first study the substance of the lawsuit submitted to the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).
“I haven’t heard about it yet. We’ll see what is being sued and what the main issues are,” Muzani said during a press conference at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
“Ah, this too, we just got the info, so we’ll study it first,” said Siti Fauziah.
The lawsuit is registered at the Central Jakarta District Court with registration number L JKT.PST-12052026HYC dated 12 May 2026.
In the lawsuit, David names Ahmad Muzani as the first defendant. He also sues the Head of the Constitutional Assessment Bureau of the MPR RI General Secretariat, Dyastasita Widya Budi, as the second defendant, and the Head of the Secretariat of the MPR Socialisation Agency, Indri Wahyuni, as the third defendant.
In addition, the event’s MC, Shindy Lutfiana, is also sued as the fourth defendant.
David assesses that the defendants did not demonstrate professionalism and sportsmanship in the competition. He also believes that participants did not receive fair treatment.
“That the actions of the judges and MC are highly contrary to the principles of professionalism, objectivity, propriety, caution, and sportsmanship in competitions, the right of participants to receive fair treatment, and the obligation of organisers to ensure a transparent and accountable competition,” David said in his statement on Wednesday.
He stated that the lawsuit was filed as a form of support for the younger generation who dare to voice the truth.
In his petition, David requests that the judge order the second and third defendants to apologise directly and openly to the students and teachers of SMAN 1 Pontianak.
He also requests that all defendants be declared to have committed unlawful acts.
