Sudirman-Thamrin Roads Closed for Jakarta's 499th Anniversary Peak Celebration

Jalan Jenderal Sudirman to MH Thamrin was closed on Saturday (27/6/2026) ahead of the peak celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, centred at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout. The closure was implemented to support the smooth running of the series of events throughout the evening. Based on monitoring at 15.00 WIB, Jalan Sudirman to MH Thamrin began to be closed. Officers from the Transportation Agency and Satpol PP were seen installing barriers at several road closure points. Residents who had been waiting since midday around the HI Roundabout immediately rushed to secure strategic spots in front of the stage, sitting down directly before it. Meanwhile, vehicles coming from the Sudirman direction towards the HI Roundabout were diverted to alternative routes, as were vehicles from the Monas direction intending to pass through Jalan MH Thamrin. The main stage area at the HI Roundabout appeared ready for use, with officers still conducting checks on the sound system, main screen, and security around the event area. The peak night of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary will be enlivened by a music concert, multimedia show, video mapping, and the launch of the logo for Jakarta’s journey towards five centuries, centred at the HI Roundabout. The Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, will also attend the event, alongside a number of singers who will perform.
