Sudirman Said Undergoes Third Examination in Heating Petral Corruption Case

Jakarta, VIVA – The investigation into alleged corruption in crude oil procurement at Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) between 2008 and 2015 is moving forward once again.

Former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said answered another summons from investigators at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) to be questioned as a witness on Friday, 17 July 2026.

Before being questioned, Sudirman confirmed that this summons was still connected to the investigation into the Petral corruption case being pursued by Kejagung.

“It appears to be the same Petral matter,” said Sudirman.

He also affirmed that his status remains that of a witness in the case, which has also ensnared oil businessman Riza Chalid as a suspect.

“Yes, (as a witness),” he said.

This questioning is the third for Sudirman Said. He was previously questioned by investigators in the same case on 23 December 2025 and 19 January 2026.

For context, the Attorney General’s Office has officially named seven individuals as suspects in the alleged corruption case concerning crude oil procurement at Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) between 2008 and 2015.

Notably, one of the names implicated is seasoned businessman Riza Chalid. Director of Investigation at the Attorney General’s Office for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, assured that this designation was not without basis, saying investigators had gathered sufficient evidence.

“The investigation team from the Attorney General’s Office for special crimes has named seven suspects,” he said on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

Besides Riza Chalid, investigators also named several other parties: BBG as Commercial Manager of the Marketing and Commercial Directorate of PT Pertamina, whose last position was Managing Director of Pertamina Energy Service (PES); AGS as Head of Trading at Pertamina Energy Services (2012–2014); MLY as Senior Trader at Pertamina Energy Services Pte Ltd (2009–2015); NRD as Crude Trading Manager at PES; TFK as VP ISC at PT Pertamina, whose last position was President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping; and IRW as a director of companies owned by MRC.
