Sudirman Said: State Harkat University is a Practical-Based Applied Campus
Universitas Harkat Negeri (UHN) Tegal, Central Java, is an applied campus that emphasises practical-based learning. Students will gain direct experience through various facilities such as teaching factories, collaborations with industry, and internship programmes.
This was conveyed by the Rector of UHN Tegal, Sudirman Said, following the selection test for prospective recipients of the “Beasiswa Harkat Negeri” held at the Mataram Campus, UHN Tegal, on Sunday (5/4/2026).
“This campus will introduce students extensively to the practical world, both through meetings with key figures and supportive facilities,” said Sudirman Said.
Sudirman Said also emphasised that UHN is a “nusantara campus” that opens opportunities for students from various regions across Indonesia. The Nusantara Scholarship programme is one manifestation of this commitment, targeting high-achieving students from Papua, East Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, and other areas.
Sudirman Said further explained that the campus continues to strengthen students’ global perspectives through public lectures featuring national and international figures. This aims to provide students with a broad understanding of global developments.
On that occasion, Sudirman also reiterated the importance of mastering soft skills in an ever-changing world. Skills such as communication, motivation, and mobilising others are considered key to future success.
“Successful individuals are those with strong determination, who dare to step out of their comfort zones, are capable of communicating, and possess vision,” he asserted.
According to Sudirman Said, UHN is committed to shaping students’ character through soft skills training, field practices, and various competitions. Every week, students are encouraged to achieve in various fields through competitions.
“We provide space for students to forge themselves into leaders through literacy, interaction, and competition,” concluded Sudirman Said, the former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
One prospective student participating in the selection, Muhammad Idzom, expressed optimism about passing the Harkat Negeri scholarship admission.
“I am optimistic about passing and becoming a student who receives a scholarship from Universitas Harkat Negeri,” said Muhammad Idzom.
“The selection consists of academic potential tests and interviews, which are important stages in determining scholarship recipients,” added Muhammad Idzom.
The Director of Communication and Cooperation at Universitas Harkat Negeri, Erni Unggul Sedya Utami, stated that out of a total of 880 participants, only 110 will be selected as recipients of the Beasiswa Harkat Negeri. Nevertheless, the campus ensures that unsuccessful participants still have opportunities to obtain other available scholarships at Universitas Harkat Negeri.
“For students who do not succeed in obtaining the Beasiswa Harkat Negeri, various types of scholarships are available, including Beasiswa Nusantara, Organisational Scholarship, Achievement Scholarship, Ranking Scholarship, Quran Memorisation Scholarship, and Influencer Scholarship,” explained Erni.
The Beasiswa Harkat Negeri selection is expected to identify outstanding young generations who excel not only academically but also possess leadership character and readiness to face global challenges.
