Sudirman Said Speaks Out After Questioning by Attorney General's Office Over Oil Case

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for 2014-2016, Sudirman Said, has revealed that he answered a summons from the Attorney General’s Office to give testimony as a witness in the investigation into an alleged corruption case involving the procurement of crude oil and fuel oil (BBM) at PT Pertamina.

Through his personal Instagram account, he said the questioning related to information he possessed while serving as Senior Vice President Integrated Supply Chain at PT Pertamina in 2008-2009, as well as during his tenure as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources from 2014 to 2016.

“This morning, I answered a summons from the Attorney General’s Office to give testimony as a witness, in connection with the investigation into corruption in the procurement of crude oil and fuel at Pertamina,” Sudirman said, quoted from his Instagram account @sudirmansa1d on Friday (17/7/2026).

He explained to investigators the various matters he worked on, knew of, and experienced during his time in both positions.

“As good citizens, we must support all efforts at law enforcement and the eradication of corruption,” he said.

Although he believes the state of law enforcement in Indonesia is currently not in good shape, Sudirman called on the public to continue nurturing hope that justice will prevail.

“Our legal situation is indeed not in a good place at the moment. But as the wise say: ‘even if we know the world will end tomorrow, if there is a chance to sow seeds, do it anyway’. We must continue to nurture hope, for the future of our generation. May justice prevail,” he concluded.
