Sudirman Flyover in Tangerang to be built in 2027; traffic flow to be rerouted

The Tangerang City Government aims to commence realisation of the Sudirman Flyover at the start of 2027 as a solution to congestion around Tanah Tinggi Station. The project is entering an accelerated planning phase after the Tangerang City Government held a Kick Off Meeting with several stakeholders and community leaders. Tangerang Mayor Sachrudin said the construction of the flyover is a priority agenda in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works (PU). He stated that the flyover is needed to address traffic density at the level crossing of Jenderal Sudirman Street, Benteng Betawi Street, and Daan Mogot Road, where railway crossing activities by KRL Duri–Tangerang have long disrupted traffic. “This activity is to enhance cross-sectoral synergy to jointly support the smooth planning of the Sudirman Flyover,” Sachrudin said on Tuesday (19 May 2026), quoted from the Tangerang City site. He regards the location as a key node connecting several strategic routes in Tangerang City, so the congestion that occurs often has a broad impact on community mobility. At present, the Tangerang City Government is preparing a number of technical documents before the project enters the construction phase. Documents being prepared include Detail Engineering Design (DED), Traffic Impact Analysis (Andalalin), Environmental Impact Assessment (Amdal), and the land acquisition process. “We are discussing with all relevant parties to support accelerated planning of the project, including completing all required documents,” said Yeti. He added that the land acquisition process is targeted to commence in 2026. Additionally, the flyover project has also been included in the priority agenda of the Balai Besar Pelaksanaan Jalan Nasional (BPJN), under the Ministry of Public Works (PU). Traffic Director of the Directorate of Road Transportation under the Ministry of Transportation, Rudi Irawan, said the flyover will have a major impact on improving mobility and traffic safety. “We fully support this development plan because, as has been stated, its purpose is to streamline mobility routes for the public and enhance traffic safety for road users going forward,” Rudi said.
