Sudin SDA Truck Trapped in Lenteng Agung Road Collapse, Traffic Disrupted
A debris-carrying truck belonging to the South Jakarta Sub-district Office of Water Resources (Sudin SDA) became trapped in a collapsed road section on Lenteng Agung Main Road in Jagakarsa, heading towards Depok, on Friday (29 May). The incident occurred around 11:30 WIB as the truck passed through the area. It suddenly sank into the right side of the road, reportedly due to excessive load causing the rear axle to break. Despite being trapped inside the cabin, the driver managed to escape safely. Evacuation was promptly carried out using an excavator and completed by 12:00 WIB. The road is now reopened, but only one lane is available for traffic. Motorcyclists are advised to seek alternative routes or ‘shortcut’ paths to avoid congestion. The road damage had been gradually observed since Wednesday (27 May). South Jakarta’s Public Works Sub-district Office had previously conducted emergency repairs using coldmix (cold asphalt) to ensure road safety. The Public Works office is currently coordinating with Sudin SDA Jakarta Selatan to investigate the cause of the damage. Preliminary findings suggest the road collapse was triggered by underground water channel issues. Police, DKI Jakarta’s Transportation Department (Dishub), and the Water Resources Department are collaborating to expedite repairs and restore normal traffic flow. To prevent congestion, DKI Jakarta’s Transportation Department has implemented traffic diversions around the incident site on Lenteng Agung Main Road near Gang Empang, opposite Alpino Exhaust Workshop in South Jakarta. Regarding the response efforts, Acting Head of DKI Jakarta’s Transportation Department Ujang Hermawan stated: ‘We understand that community activities are disrupted by the road collapse. Therefore, traffic management and diversions are being implemented to reduce congestion while ensuring road user safety,’ said Ujang Hermawan in Jakarta on Friday. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has assured that the situation is being closely monitored to ensure the comfort and safety of residents passing through the area. (Ant/E-4)
