Sudewo to Face Trial as Case Files Handed to Court Next Week
The KPK has stated that the case files of former Pati Regent Sudewo will be transferred to Semarang District Court next week. Sudewo is set to face trial on two separate charges.
“Regarding the Pati case, the public prosecutor (JPU) is currently finalising the indictment documents. The transfer to Semarang District Court is scheduled for next week,” KPK spokesperson Budi Praesetyo told reporters on Friday (29/6/2026).
The transfer process will be conducted electronically. Once complete, a judge will be appointed and a trial date set.
“Only after receiving the trial schedule will we transfer the suspect’s custody to prepare for the Semarang District Court proceedings. We are still awaiting the process,” he added.
Previously, the KPK had transferred case files for two charges against the former Pati Regent and ex-Commission V member of the DPR RI, Sudewo. The KPK plans to consolidate the case files.
“There are two investigation case files: one for the DJKA case and another for the Pati case,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (19/5/2026).
“Therefore, during the prosecution phase, the JPU will prepare the indictment documents within a maximum of 14 days, which allows for the consolidation of charges,” he added.
Budi explained that under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), prosecutors are permitted to consolidate multiple case files to enhance the efficiency of case handling.
“So, under the KUHAP, the JPU can consolidate indictment files for multiple investigation cases. This ensures efficient handling of both the DJKA and Pati cases,” Budi clarified.
The KPK has already designated former Pati Regent Sudewo as a suspect in two cases. The first relates to alleged corruption in the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) under the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub), while the second involves extortion in the appointment of local government officials.
