Jakarta, VIVA – The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) at the Xanh SM (Green SM) taxi depot in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday night, 28 April 2026.

The inspection aimed to ensure the implementation of the Public Transport Company Safety Management System (SMK PAU) is running in accordance with regulations, as it relates to vehicle safety.

“In the organisation of public transport, there are several elements that must be carried out in accordance with SMK PAU. We conducted the sidak to ensure that all safety aspects are implemented, from pre-trip inspections to the competence and health of drivers,” Aan said in his statement on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.

The Green SM Bekasi depot is the operational base for vehicles suspected of being involved in an accident in East Bekasi. The inspection focused on checking the completeness of administration, vehicle roadworthiness, operational readiness of the fleet, and other safety elements.

“We want to ensure that the safety management system in public transport companies, including Green SM, has been implemented in accordance with regulations. From the initial examination results, there are several findings that we will investigate further,” he said.

He stated that further probing will be conducted at the Green SM central depot in Kemayoran, Jakarta, to obtain a comprehensive conclusion. In addition, the Directorate General of Land Transportation will coordinate with the police and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding the alleged involvement of the vehicle in the KRL Cikarang train accident with the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek.

On the same occasion, Yusuf Nugroho, Director of Road Transportation Facilities and Safety, who led the inspection, said that the sidak is part of the oversight of SMK PAU implementation. This is as mandated in Ministerial Regulation (PM) No. 85 of 2018 on the Public Transport Company Safety Management System.

“In the event of an incident, the Directorate General of Land Transportation may conduct audits and inspections through observation and monitoring. So what we are doing is in accordance with Article 16 of PM 85 of 2018, that in certain conditions such as prominent or recurrent traffic accidents, the Directorate General of Land Transportation may conduct audits and inspections to ensure safety aspects,” Yusuf said.

He stated that the results of the audit and inspection will later serve as the basis for providing recommendations, either in the form of safety system improvements or administrative sanctions.
