Head of the Presidential Staff Office, retired TNI General Dudung Abdurachman, carried out a surprise inspection (sidak) at two Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens in the Kebon Jeruk and Grogol Petamburan areas of West Jakarta. From the direct inspection, Dudung identified issues related to cleanliness and food health standards.

The inspection took place on Tuesday morning (12/5/2026). During the sidak, Dudung found several conditions deemed below standard, including dirty kitchen areas, the presence of maggots, pallets not meeting health standards, inadequate washing facilities, hot kitchen rooms, and mixed dry kitchen areas, wet storage, and dry warehouses.

According to Dudung, separating dirty and clean areas is a basic principle in food kitchen management. Therefore, he requested that SPPG kitchens not meeting standards be repaired immediately.

“If they cannot be repaired soon, just close them. I have conveyed this to BGN,” Dudung said in a written statement from the Presidential Staff Office on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

Dudung stated that the Presidential Staff Office has coordinated with the Head of the National Nutrition Agency and the Deputy Head of BGN to follow up on the field findings. He also urged that non-compliant SPPG kitchens be suspended promptly.

“Clearly, I have coordinated with the Head of BGN and the Deputy Head of BGN. After seeing the conditions directly in the field, we are pushing the Head of BGN to suspend the kitchens that do not meet standards,” he said.

Dudung emphasised that MBG is a priority programme of President Prabowo Subianto aimed at fulfilling the nutrition of Indonesian children and preparing a superior generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045. Therefore, its implementation must not only chase food quantity targets but ensure nutritional value and health for beneficiaries.

“If it’s just to meet food targets, catering could do it. But the most important thing is not just serving food, but its nutritional value and health. That is what the President always emphasises,” he said.

Dudung also reminded that the MBG budget comes from public funds and must be properly accounted for. He asked all parties, including foundations, SPPG managers, local governments, and other related parties, not to treat this programme merely as a business opportunity.

“No parties should take excessive advantage of our good intentions. If there is profit, it should be reasonable, but not at the expense of quality. This is public money that must be accounted for,” he said.

Dudung also requested that the public and local apparatus, including neighbourhood units (RT), monitor the implementation of the MBG programme in the field. According to him, negligence regarding health standards could have serious impacts on child beneficiaries.

“Don’t take it lightly. If poisoning occurs, children become victims. This is what we do not want,” he stressed.

Dudung assured that the Presidential Staff Office will continue to oversee the MBG programme implementation. He even stated that he would conduct secret sidaks in several regions, including Central Java and West Java, to ensure the programme runs according to standards.

“I have received information about conditions in other places, including Central Java and West Java. I will conduct secret sidaks to ensure this programme truly runs according to standards,” he said.

The former Pangdam Jaya emphasised that overseeing the MBG programme is part of the Presidential Staff Office’s responsibility to ensure the President’s priority programmes truly benefit the public.

“This programme is being pioneered now so that the quality of Indonesian children in the future can compete with the outside world. Therefore, health standards, cleanliness, and nutritional value must be the main focus,” he said.

Dudung stressed that the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme must be closely monitored to run quickly, safely, accountably, and truly benefit Indonesian children.

He assured that the Presidential Staff Office will audit all SPPG nationwide. They will classify SPPG as fully compliant, conditionally compliant, or non-compliant and thus unable to operate.

“The first thing we must pay attention to is cleanliness. The Presidential Staff Office will soon conduct a rapid audit and national verification of SPPG. There will be classifications: fully compliant, conditionally compliant, or non-compliant so they cannot operate,” said Dudung.

Dudung added that certificates and SPPG kitchen verification processes must not stop at administrative aspects. According to him, the most important is to ensure that factual conditions in the field truly meet health, cleanliness, and food safety standards.

“The certificate and verification issues are not limited to administration alone, but must be thoroughly assured, especially health factors for beneficiaries. The two kitchens I inspected are not fit,” he said.
