Sudden Afternoon Rain Hits Jakarta, Check BMKG Forecast Until Tonight

Sudden rain occurred in the Jakarta area this afternoon, Wednesday (19/8/2026).

According to information posted on the official Instagram account of BMKG, the weather in Jakarta today is generally thick cloudy, clear, with potential for light rain.

In West Jakarta, afternoon weather conditions are clear-cloudy, with light rain predicted at 16.00 and 19.00 WIB.

In Central Jakarta, afternoon weather is clear cloudy to thick cloudy, with potential for light rain at 16.00 and 19.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, the weather in South Jakarta this afternoon is described as clear to clear cloudy, with potential for moderate rain in the afternoon at 16.00 WIB, and light rain in the evening at 19.00 WIB.

In East Jakarta, weather conditions are clear cloudy, with potential for light rain predicted at 16.00 and 19.00 WIB.

Similar conditions are predicted for North Jakarta today.

In the Seribu Islands, afternoon weather conditions are clear-cloudy, with potential for light rain predicted at 16.00 WIB and thunderstorms in the evening around 19.00 WIB.

In its weekly rain potential analysis released on 17 August 2026 for the period 18-20 August 2026, BMKG stated that weather conditions in Indonesia are generally dominated by clear cloudy to heavy rain.

“It is necessary to be aware of an increase in moderate intensity rain occurring in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Jambi, Lampung, West Java, North Kalimantan, Maluku, Central Papua, Papua Pegunungan, and Papua,” wrote BMKG, quoted on Wednesday (19/8/2026).

“Alert for heavy to very heavy rain in Papua Pegunungan,” wrote BMKG.

In addition, strong winds are predicted to hit the regions of Aceh, East Java, Riau Islands, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, South Sulawesi, and North Sulawesi.
