Sudaryono Rumoured to Replace Nanik Deyang as Head of National Nutrition Agency
Nanik Sudaryati Deyang has resigned from her position as head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono is rumoured to be replacing the woman who served for only 45 days. Nanik announced her resignation via Facebook. She said she was grateful to have assisted President Prabowo Subianto in the free nutritious meals (MBG) programme after being his supporter for over a decade. “Fourteen years following him, I know for certain the MBG programme is not for political purposes as people have accused,” she wrote on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. In her post, Nanik dropped a hint about her successor as BGN head. According to Nanik, the figure is close to her and can already be considered a younger sibling. “I can tweak his ear if, for example, things go astray,” she said. A Tempo source within the BGN revealed that Nanik’s replacement is Sudaryono, who currently serves as Deputy Agriculture Minister. Like Nanik, Sudaryono is also known to have long been in Prabowo’s inner circle. Sudaryono is known as a former personal assistant to Prabowo before serving in the Gerindra Party and in government. Besides his cabinet role, Sudaryono also holds a position outside government. He is the General Chairman of the Indonesian Farmers’ Harmony Association (HKTI) for the 2025–2030 period. The same position was once held by Prabowo. Tempo attempted to confirm Sudaryono’s appointment as BGN head with the Deputy Agriculture Minister. The Gerindra Party stalwart has not yet responded to messages sent to his number via messaging app. Tempo also sought confirmation from Nanik via her WhatsApp number, as well as from Deputy BGN Head and spokesperson Agustina Arumsari. However, as of the writing of this report, neither had responded.
