Jakarta, VIVA – The head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, said he wants the BGN Supervisory Board to be filled by competent professional personnel.

“The key point is that we want this supervisory board to be overseen by competent people,” Sudaryono told reporters at the BGN office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.

He said he would propose nutritionists through to paediatricians to join the BGN Supervisory Board. Sudaryono believes the presence of nutritionists and paediatricians is essential for the continuity of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme run by the BGN.

“Yes, one of the things we want to propose includes several nutritionists, then a paediatrician, a nutrition specialist doctor, an obstetrician – these are indeed needed. Including a chef who can give tips and so on,” he said.

Sudaryono stressed that his side is open to and welcomes all input for the MBG programme going forward.

“We will certainly be very grateful if we are helped by professional personnel who are truly experts in their fields,” Sudaryono concluded.

Previously reported, the Presidential Palace, through the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) of the Republic of Indonesia, Prasetyo Hadi, spoke out about the issue of Nanik S Deyang, who is set to become a member of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Supervisory Board.

Prasetyo revealed that President Prabowo Subianto had indeed asked Nanik to fill the position. He explained that Nanik still has sufficient experience to assist the BGN.

“Yes, that was a request from the President. Because her experience is considered still useful in helping the BGN,” Prasetyo Hadi told reporters at the Senayan parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

Prasetyo also responded to questions regarding Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 83 of 2024, under which the BGN’s organisational structure only includes a Steering Board, not a Supervisory Board.

Prasetyo asserted that the meaning of a Steering Board is essentially the same as a Supervisory Board. In his view, the public should not get caught up in the terminology.

“Actually, the meaning can be the same, whether it is a Steering Board or a Supervisory Board in terms of carrying out its duties. Our point is that perhaps we should not get trapped in the terminology of which is which. What matters is the function,” Prasetyo said.
