Sudaryono Officially Appointed Head of National Nutrition Agency, Inaugurated by Prabowo at Palace

President Prabowo Subianto has officially inaugurated Sudaryono as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Sudaryono replaces Nanik S Deyang, who resigned on health grounds.

The inauguration was held at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and several members of the Red-and-White Cabinet attended the ceremony.

The proceedings began with the singing of ‘Indonesia Raya’. This was followed by the reading of Presidential Decree Number 78P of 2026 on the appointment of Sudaryono as Head of BGN. Prabowo then led the recitation of the oath of office.

“By Allah I swear. That I shall be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and shall carry out all laws and regulations as faithfully as possible in devotion to my nation and state. That in carrying out the duties of my office, I shall uphold the ethics of office, work to the best of my ability, and with a full sense of responsibility,” read the oath taken by Sudaryono.

After taking the oath of office, Sudaryono signed the official record of inauguration, witnessed directly by President Prabowo.

Earlier, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi announced that President Prabowo had appointed Sudaryono as Head of BGN, replacing Nanik S Deyang.

“The President has decided that the replacement for the Head of BGN is Sudaryono, who served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture,” said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7).

Prasetyo said Sudaryono was chosen because he had been involved from the start in formulating the concept and ideas behind the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

“And as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, the National Nutrition Agency, whose activities involve providing free nutritious meals, has never been separate from his duties at the Ministry of Agriculture,” he said.
