Sudaryono Instructs BGN Staff to Cooperate with Legal Process

Newly inaugurated Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, has instructed all BGN employees to fully entrust the ongoing legal process to law enforcement officials. This directive was delivered by Sudaryono during his inaugural meeting at the BGN office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. He acknowledged that the BGN is currently facing governance issues and an investigation into alleged corruption cases. “I want legal matters to be the domain of law enforcement,” Sudaryono said after the meeting. He affirmed his commitment to fully supporting the law enforcement process and requested that employees being examined—whether as witnesses or suspects—cooperate by following legal procedures. Nevertheless, Sudaryono urged all his staff not to dwell in sadness and pessimism. “We must be optimistic that we can resolve this issue. We believe this programme is good and its governance can be continuously improved,” he stated. President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Sudaryono at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, based on Presidential Decree Number 78/P of 2026. The former Deputy Minister of Agriculture replaces Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, who previously served for 45 days at the institution responsible for the free nutritious meal (MBG) programme. On the same day, Nanik announced her resignation via her personal Facebook account, citing a need to focus on heart health treatment. Nanik expressed gratitude for having had the opportunity to assist President Prabowo in running the MBG programme. “Having followed him for fourteen years, I know for certain the MBG programme is not for political purposes as some have accused,” Nanik wrote. Following his inauguration, Sudaryono stressed that he has absolutely no personal interest in the implementation of the MBG programme. He denied owning any communal kitchens or Nutritional Service Fulfilment Units (SPPG) that receive government incentives. “None at all, I do not have an SPPG. I do not have a kitchen. No family member of mine owns a kitchen,” said the Gerindra Party cadre. He did not deny that various implementation problems remain in the field, including the alleged corruption case implicating former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana along with several other former BGN officials. “We ourselves have witnessed that there have been violations in terms of non-transparent governance,” he said.
