Sudaryono Instructs BGN Staff to Cooperate with Legal Process
The newly appointed head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, has asked all BGN staff to leave entirely in the hands of law enforcement officials the legal process currently under way.
Sudaryono conveyed this instruction at his first meeting at the BGN office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. He acknowledged that the BGN is currently facing governance problems as well as an investigation into an alleged corruption case.
“I want legal matters to be the domain of law enforcement,” said Sudaryono after the meeting.
He affirmed his commitment to fully supporting the legal enforcement process and asked staff under examination—whether as witnesses or suspects—to cooperate in following legal procedures.
Nevertheless, Sudaryono urged his entire team not to linger in sadness and pessimism.
“We must be optimistic that we can resolve these problems. We are confident that this programme is good and its governance can continue to be improved,” he said.
Sworn in to Replace Nanik Sudaryati Deyang
President Prabowo Subianto officially installed Sudaryono at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, pursuant to Presidential Decree Number 78/P of 2026. The former Deputy Minister of Agriculture replaces Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, who had served for 45 days at the agency responsible for the free nutritious meal (MBG) programme.
On the same day, Nanik announced her resignation via her personal Facebook account, citing the need to focus on treatment for a heart condition.
Nanik expressed gratitude for having had the chance to help President Prabowo run the MBG programme. “Having been with him for fourteen years, I know for certain that the MBG programme is not for political purposes as some people allege,” Nanik wrote.
Meanwhile, Sudaryono, following his inauguration, asserted that he has absolutely no personal interests in the running of the MBG programme. He denied owning any community kitchens or Nutrition Service Fulfilment Units (SPPG) that receive government incentives.
“None at all, I don’t have any SPPG. I don’t have any kitchens. None of my family owns a kitchen,” said the Gerindra Party politician.
He did not deny that there remain various implementation problems on the ground, including the corruption case that has ensnared former BGN chief Dadan Hindayana along with several other former BGN officials.
“We ourselves have witnessed that there are violations from a governance perspective that were not transparent,” he said.
