Sudaryono: BGN Will Support Any Needs of Law Enforcement
Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sudaryono has asserted that the agency will fully support the law enforcement process concerning alleged corruption currently implicating several parties within the BGN. Nevertheless, he has asked all employees to continue working optimally and not to become mired in pessimism due to the case.
This was conveyed by Sudaryono after chairing his first meeting with BGN officials at the BGN office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026).
“Legal matters are the business of law enforcement. Therefore, we fully hand over the investigation, we fully hand over the inquiry and probe to the law enforcers who are upholding the law regarding the governance issues we faced previously,” Sudaryono said.
Sudaryono stressed that as the new Head of BGN, he is ready to provide support if needed in the ongoing legal process. “In essence, I, as the new head of the agency, we will support whatever is needed in law enforcement, we will provide it,” he stated.
However, Sudaryono reminded that the legal process should not cause the entire BGN staff to lose their spirit in implementing the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. “But we must not then sink into pessimism and then lack enthusiasm in carrying out this service,” he said.
He acknowledged that there are a number of employees who are now witnesses or suspects in the legal case. According to him, they must follow the legal process according to the provisions, while other employees remain focused on working.
“I want my team members who have legal cases, perhaps those who are witnesses, perhaps those who are suspects and so on, to follow the process. We are ready to provide full support for law enforcement, but the National Nutrition Agency must continue to work optimally,” he stressed.
Sudaryono also invited all BGN staff to rise and make the existing problems a momentum to improve the institution’s governance. “So I want to invite the entire team not to get mired in this pessimism and sadness. So we must be optimistic, we can solve this problem, and we believe that this programme is good, and we will then improve its governance,” he said.
According to Sudaryono, one focus of the reform is to build a more transparent system so that it no longer depends on individuals. “What was previously dark must become light, what was perhaps not transparent must become transparent. What was perhaps manual, dependent on individual persons, must no longer depend on individual persons, it must be by system, trust in the system,” he explained.
On the same occasion, Sudaryono also allowed employees who feel unable to continue their duties at the BGN to request a transfer. “Those dealing with legal matters, let them deal with legal matters. Those who are not, we must work. Not everyone is involved. We adhere to the presumption of innocence, leave it to the authorities. Those who are not involved must work,” he said.
“If you feel burdened, I ask that perhaps some people in certain positions may submit a letter, for example if they wish to return to another institution, or if they want to move or whatever, I will allow it. Because we want to move quickly, effectively, and efficiently,” he added.
