Sudaryono Appointed as New BGN Head, Puan Urges Performance Review
House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani has conveyed a message to the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) following the resignation of Nanik S Deyang. She expressed hope that the new BGN Head would be able to improve and evaluate the institution’s performance.
“Hopefully the replacement will be the best for BGN and can evaluate and improve BGN’s performance,” Puan told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician also expressed confidence that the next BGN leader would do their best for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme going forward. “I am sure it will be the best for the next evaluation,” she said.
It was previously reported that President Prabowo Subianto appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency. Sudaryono will replace Nanik S Deyang. The appointment was announced directly by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
“The President has decided that the replacement for the Head of BGN is Sudaryono, who currently serves as Deputy Minister of Agriculture,” Prasetyo told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. Prasetyo stated that Sudaryono would be sworn in immediately on Wednesday afternoon. “The replacement is planned to be inaugurated today as well so that the process or tasks carried out by BGN do not experience a vacuum,” he said.
Former Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Nanik S Deyang, resigned from her position. Nanik also bid farewell to President Prabowo Subianto to undergo heart treatment. The resignation was announced directly by the President’s Special Assistant for Communication and Policy Analysis, Dirgayuza Setiawan, via his official Instagram account. “Today, Mrs Nanik Deyang bid farewell to President Prabowo to undergo heart treatment and simultaneously resigned as Head of the National Nutrition Agency,” Dirga said.
Meanwhile, Nanik S Deyang, via her Facebook account, also stated that she had personally said goodbye to President Prabowo Subianto. I plan to depart today, Wednesday, 22 July 2026,” Nanik said.
