Successive Enforcement Actions: Kediri Customs Thwarts Distribution of Over 4.1 Million Illegal Cigarettes

Kediri Customs has once again thwarted attempts to distribute illegal cigarettes through two successive enforcement actions carried out on 15 and 16 July 2026. During both operations, officers successfully seized 4,120,800 sticks of illegal cigarettes, including machine-made clove cigarettes (SKM) and machine-made white cigarettes (SPM) of various brands, which were not affixed with excise stamps.

The enforcement took place at two different locations: the Kertosono–Mojokerto Toll Road at KM 679 B and the Jombang–Nganjuk Toll Road at KM 670, Jombang Regency, East Java. From these operations, Kediri Customs secured evidence with an estimated value of Rp 6,139,868,000. Furthermore, these actions saved potential state revenue estimated at Rp 4,002,892,212.

The Head of the Extension and Information Services Section of Kediri Customs, Arintoko Dwi Wiharto, stated that these actions are the result of continuous supervision aimed at suppressing the circulation of illegal excisable goods within their jurisdiction. “The circulation of illegal cigarettes not only harms the state in terms of revenue but also creates unfair business competition for operators who have complied with regulations. Therefore, we will continue to increase supervision and enforcement against all forms of violations in the excise sector,” said Arintoko.

Arintoko explained that all seized goods have been secured and will be processed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. According to him, this step is part of Customs’ commitment to fostering excise compliance and providing a deterrent effect to violators. Through these successive enforcement actions, Kediri Customs reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that the circulation of excisable goods remains in accordance with prevailing regulations. This effort is expected to protect the public, create a healthy business climate, and secure state revenue from the excise sector.
