Successful Emission Reduction: Badak NGL Receives PROPER Gold Award 2025

PT Badak NGL has been awarded the PROPER Gold for 2025 by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry for its dedication and commitment to sustainable environmental governance. This outstanding achievement stems from efforts in managing the living environment in both operational aspects and for the surrounding community.

The award was presented directly by the Minister of Environment and Forestry/Head of the Environment Management Agency, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, to representatives of PT Badak NGL during the PROPER Environmental Awards event at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

For context, PT Badak NGL is intensifying efforts to enhance energy efficiency. One such initiative is the Boiler Steam Load Optimisation Programme Based on Digital Innovation, which achieves energy efficiency at Badak LNG of 59,595 GJ.

In terms of water efficiency, PT Badak NGL has the OPTIMIST (Optimal Mist System) Programme. This programme reduces water usage through the Implementation of High-Pressure Mist Technology in the Tank Temperature Control System, achieving water savings of 702 m³.

Furthermore, the Programme for Reducing Flare Gas Emissions Through Low Emission Operational Strategy During LNG Loading at PT Badak NGL’s Loading Dock has lowered emissions by 49,634 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

For information, PT Badak NGL is a company located in Bontang City, East Kalimantan Province, producing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) with respective design production capacities of 22.5 million tonnes per year and 1.2 million tonnes per year.
