REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG – Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah, Dompet Dhuafa continues to strengthen rural community economic empowerment through the Jantara (Jaringan Tani Ternak Nusantara) programme.

This programme is being developed in the Getasan area, Semarang Regency, Central Java, to support local livestock farmers while strengthening community-based food security.

During the Press Touring The Kurban Series 1447 H event on Tuesday (12/05/2026), a number of national media personnel were invited to directly inspect the cattle and sheep farms managed jointly with the community in Dangklik Hamlet, Tolokan Village, Getasan Subdistrict, Semarang Regency.

The Jantara programme is an extension of the centralised livestock management at DD Farm, which has been running since 2021 in Kendal, Central Java.

Through this programme, Dompet Dhuafa expands the people’s livestock network so that the benefits of managing zakat, infaq, and sedekah (ZIS) funds can be directly felt by the community in a sustainable manner.

Representative of Dompet Dhuafa Central Java, Zaini, stated that the Jantara programme not only focuses on providing quality sacrificial animals but also encourages the economic independence of village farmers.

“Through the Jantara programme, we aim to strengthen the capacity of farmers, build business independence, and expand community-based economic networks,” he said in a statement quoted on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

Currently, 50 sheep are managed in the Getasan area and another 50 in Kendal. All livestock are managed jointly with local farmer groups as part of a village-based community empowerment programme.

Head of Tolokan Village, Dwi Wahono, appreciated the livestock programme run by Dompet Dhuafa, as it is seen to open new economic opportunities for residents. “This programme greatly helps the community improve welfare through direct involvement in livestock management,” he said.

One of the partner farmers, Kabul Budiono, admitted to gaining many benefits since joining the programme. In addition to receiving livestock assistance, farmers receive technical training on fattening to handling animal diseases.

“From the start, we were taught good farming methods, from fattening to handling livestock diseases,” Kabul revealed.

On the other hand, Drh Hermanto ensured that the health condition of the livestock at DD Farm is continuously monitored ahead of Eid al-Adha, including prevention of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).

According to him, all managed cattle and sheep show healthy growth with strict supervision of feed, stable sanitation, and routine health checks.

Through the Jantara programme, Dompet Dhuafa hopes that this community-based empowerment livestock model can continue to develop and become a driver of sustainable village economy.
