PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, through its BRImo Taiwan innovation, has achieved the award for Integrated Digital Banking for the Indonesian Diaspora and Migrant Workers in Taiwan under a Special Category. Held under the theme “Advancing Corporate Resilience Through Agile Innovation”, the event recognises companies and issuers that integrate innovation into their strategies to strengthen resilience and drive corporate growth.

As part of the BRIVolution Reignite transformation, BRI introduced BRImo Taiwan as a mobile banking service for the Indonesian community in Taiwan. Operating under the auspices of Danantara and supervised directly by the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) and the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) of Taiwan, BRImo Taiwan aims to expand access to BRI’s banking services for Indonesians in the region.

Through BRImo Taiwan, customers can access mobile banking 24 hours a day, perform remittances to Indonesia, execute local transfers, use QR payments, pay State Revenue Module (MPN) billing codes, check account mutations, and perform foreign currency conversions from USD to NTD.

BRI Director of Information Technology, Saladin Dharma Nugraha Effendi, stated that the development of BRImo Taiwan is part of BRI’s steps to expand digital capabilities and strengthen the presence of BRI’s banking services in the international market.

“Taiwan is one of the primary destinations for Indonesian Migrant Workers, with significant economic and remittance activities. Therefore, we see the importance of providing digital services that not only facilitate transactions and money transfers but also support migrant workers in managing their finances safely, planned, and sustainably. Through BRImo Taiwan, we bring our ‘One Bank for All’ spirit by expanding access to BRI services for the Indonesian community abroad,” said Saladin, as quoted from a written statement on Thursday (10/09/2026).

The presence of BRImo Taiwan is closely linked to the high level of economic activity among the Indonesian community in Taiwan, particularly Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). According to Bank Indonesia data, remittances from migrant workers in Taiwan reached approximately US$2.97 billion in 2025, more than doubling from US$1.37 billion in 2021.

Exactly one year since BRI strengthened its presence through the BRI Taipei Branch in the Zhongshan District, BRI Taipei’s total assets have reached over US$408 million. Taiwan-Indonesia remittance transactions reached approximately US$490 million as of the end of July 2026, serving more than 3,400 accounts.

Meanwhile, since its grand launch on 23 August 2026, BRImo Taiwan has recorded more than 1,460 user registrations.

“What migrant workers do in Taiwan provides benefits that extend far beyond their workplace, as they help revitalise the economies of their families and home regions in Indonesia. Through BRImo Taiwan, we want to provide a seamless banking experience, both for transaction needs in Taiwan and for sending money to Indonesia. This award serves as motivation for BRI to continue developing innovations that are relevant to the needs of the Indonesian community abroad,” concluded Saladin.
