Subsidy Housing Programme Also Designed for Low-Income Groups Without Salary Slips
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) is targeting the subsidy housing programme not only for those with fixed incomes but also for individuals without salary slips or with irregular incomes.
This was stated by PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait, or Ara, during a coordination meeting on the housing programme with stakeholders at Wisma Mandiri, Jakarta, on Monday (20/4/2026).
The meeting is part of efforts to accelerate the implementation of the national strategic housing project.
According to Ara, a segmentation approach is crucial to ensure the subsidy housing programme reaches the right targets.
“We need to look at segmentation in providing subsidy housing. Developer friends for subsidy housing from various regions in Indonesia also have their own professional segmentations,” she said on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
“This programme is aimed at MBR, and it is not only given to those with fixed incomes but also to communities with irregular incomes. The President has made policies that make it easier for the people to own houses,” she added.
On that occasion, Ara also revealed that the target for providing subsidy housing has increased significantly.
“In just one year, President Prabowo has raised the target to 350,000 housing units,” she added.
The coordination meeting was attended by various parties, including representatives from the financing sector such as PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk or BTN and the National Standardisation Agency (BSN), as well as housing developers from various regions.
During the meeting, several field challenges were discussed, from permitting, management of Raw Land for Rice Fields (LBS), to rising building material prices.
Ara emphasised the importance of quick responses and open collaboration between the government and business actors.
“It is very important as entrepreneurs to understand the rules and convey the challenges in the field, including related to permitting and other matters. It’s up to us whether to be passive or active,” she said.
One subsidy housing developer, Angga Budi Kusuma, expressed optimism about achieving the housing construction targets.
The Ministry of PKP stated that it is optimistic that this intensive coordination will accelerate the resolution of various obstacles.
Thus, the subsidy housing programme can run effectively and provide real benefits to the community.
