The Jakarta Provincial Government plans to adjust fares on a number of Transjabodetabek routes because the subsidy provided by Jakarta for public transport to the capital’s buffer zones is considered too large. Governor Pramono Anung stated that his administration would soon decide on fare adjustments for several Transjabodetabek routes. One route whose fare is confirmed to be adjusted is the Transjabodetabek SH12 (Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport). ‘For the Transjabodetabek Blok M fare, that is Transjabodetabek, not Transjakarta, we will decide on it soon,’ he said in the Matraman area, East Jakarta, on Friday (5/6/2026). Pramono conveyed that it is not only the Transjabodetabek Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport route whose fare will be adjusted, but also a number of other routes. This is because the subsidy budget charged to the Jakarta Provincial Government is deemed too large to cover the transport costs. However, he could not yet determine the new Transjabodetabek fare amount after the adjustment. He said his party would decide on the matter in the near future. ‘In the coming months, we will decide on several routes, not only Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta, but also other Transjabodetabek routes that need adjustment because the subsidy is too large,’ he said. Currently, Transjakarta operates 18 Transjabodetabek routes connecting Jakarta with a number of surrounding areas. The current Transjabodetabek fare is Rp 3,500. Based on Transjakarta data, the Transjabodetabek service was used by more than 2 million passengers in March and April 2026. Of the 18 existing Transjabodetabek routes, route D21 (Universitas Indonesia/Lebak Bulus) is the most popular. Head of Transjakarta’s Public Relations and CSR Department, Ayu Wardhani, said the number of Transjabodetabek passengers in April 2026 reached 2,467,493 people. This figure increased by around 22 per cent compared to March 2026, which recorded 2,021,547 passengers. ‘This is a positive signal that the public is increasingly open to switching to public transport as a daily mobility solution,’ she said in a statement on Friday (22/5/2026).
