Subsidised Mortgage Signing in Jambi: BTN Offers 5 Per Cent Interest Rates with Up to 40-Year Tenures

PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) has held a mass credit agreement ceremony in Jambi. A total of 250 units under the subsidised mortgage programme (KPR) were centred at the Grand Citra Asri Pudak housing estate, located in Kasang Pudak Village, Kumpeh Ulu District, Muaro Jambi Regency.

BTN Director of Consumer Banking, Hirwandi Gafar, revealed that the subsidised housing programme provides residents of Jambi with the opportunity to obtain high-quality homes with low interest rates and long instalment periods, ranging from 10 to 40 years.

“Our thanks to the President for providing financing policies, with a five per cent interest rate throughout the tenure, and making instalments easier for the community through subsidy assistance,” said Hirwandi in Muaro Jambi, as quoted from his statement on Sunday, 30 August 2026.

Hirwandi explained that the programme simultaneously addresses the gap between housing demand and availability (backlog), particularly in Muara Jambi Regency and Jambi City.

According to data, these two areas currently face a backlog of approximately 130,000 units. This shortage presents an opportunity for developers and the banking sector to meet the public’s need for quality, affordable subsidised housing.

He noted that BTN, as part of the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara), has been committed to supporting housing credit distribution since 1976. It is recorded that during this period, BTN has distributed 6 million mortgages to the public.

Throughout 2026, up to August, BTN has distributed 100,000 units. Of that figure, 70 per cent consists of subsidised mortgage programmes. “Challenges remain as many people do not yet own homes. I hope that starting from Jambi City and Muaro Jambi Regency, data by name and address can be prepared so that we can provide financing assistance,” Hirwandi stated.

The Mayor of Jambi, Maulana, stated that the city government is ready to collaborate with Muaro Jambi Regency regarding the provision of basic facilities to support the development of subsidised housing.

According to him, the availability of subsidised housing, both on the outskirts of the city and in border areas, is highly beneficial to the community.

Furthermore, both regional heads have reached an agreement to collaborate on improving infrastructure, including roads, clean water, and waste management.
