Kupang (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Jawa Timur Bali Nusa Tenggara (Jatimbalinus) is urging members of the public using subsidised fuel oil (BBM) to reset their accurate subsidy QR codes periodically to avoid misuse.

Area Manager for Communications, Relations, and CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga in the Jatimbalinus region, Ahad Rahedi, contacted from Kupang on Friday, stated that this measure is intended to enhance data security and prevent misuse of BBM quotas by irresponsible parties.

“To enhance data security and prevent misuse of BBM quotas by irresponsible parties, we recommend resetting the accurate subsidy QR code periodically,” he said.

He explained that issues often arise where a barcode indication suggests one user’s code is being used by another person, frequently related to second-hand vehicles with the same registration number.

To reset the QR code, he noted that every fuel station (SPBU) has a Pertamina helpdesk. If there are difficulties in resetting, consumers are encouraged not to hesitate in seeking assistance from SPBU staff.

“If there are any issues, you can report them to us or the Pertamina contact centre at 135,” he stated.

Once a new QR code has been obtained, he urged the public not to carelessly share the barcode with others.

He added that if any indications of barcode misuse are found, the public is advised to report the issue to Pertamina for investigation.

“Pertamina is clear and firm on the sanctions imposed if violations are found at Pertamina distribution outlets,” he said.

In recent days, there have been numerous complaints from the public in Kupang city regarding difficulties in refuelling with subsidised BBM at several SPBUs, because the fuel filling quota has been exceeded, even though the vehicle owners themselves have not yet filled up with subsidised BBM.

Additionally, the NTT Provincial Police have uncovered a case of subsidised BBM misuse, one of the methods being the use of another person’s QR code. Forty individuals are potential suspects in that case.
