Subsidised Fuel Quota Decreases Even If Unused, Pertamina: Reset Barcode
Sales Area Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Jambi, Khoirul Anwar, has urged the public using subsidised fuel oil (BBM) to reset their barcodes if their usage quotas decrease even though they have not used them. This is to anticipate criminal fraud resulting from the actions of rogue fuel station (SPBU) personnel who secretly take consumers’ barcodes. “If any members of the public feel that their BBM usage quota has decreased without their knowledge, we urge them to reset it; our website already provides a barcode reset feature,” explained Khoirul, quoted from Kompas.com on Friday (10/4/2026). A fuel station operator with the initial N possessed dozens of subsidised BBM barcodes belonging to consumers, which he obtained through improper means. “One operator could have up to dozens of barcodes, which turned out to be photos of his customers’ barcodes taken secretly,” he clarified. The losses borne by the state due to their actions amounted to Rp 276 billion, as the scheme had been ongoing since 2013. “For the SPBU (caught red-handed), we have temporarily suspended it. In imposing sanctions, we do so gradually: warnings are given, and if violations continue, we close it permanently,” Khoirul emphasised. It should be noted that barcode resets are limited to a maximum of once per day. If permanently blocked due to misuse, users can contact the Pertamina Call Centre at 135 for verification and unblocking.
