Subianto's MBG Baby Renamed Muhammad Bintang Gemilang
A resident of Wonosobo, Central Java, Zuharni (41), has named her third child Muhammad Bintang Gemilang Subianto. The name was intentionally chosen so that it could be abbreviated to MBG, as an expression of gratitude for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, an initiative of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
Zuharni shared that she initially intended to name the child Muhammad MBG Subianto. However, due to civil registration regulations prohibiting the use of abbreviations in names, she ultimately composed the name Muhammad Bintang Gemilang. The infant, who is currently 23 days old, is affectionately known as MBG by family and neighbours.
This unique naming was not without reason. For almost the past year, Zuharni has worked as a volunteer at the Sapuran Jolontoro Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG). “I mention that work name because of how much I love it and how grateful I am. I am thankful,” Zuharni stated in an official statement from the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) of the Republic of An Indonesia on Friday (31/7).
Before joining the SPPG, Zuharni made a living as a travelling clothing vendor for five years. She is now grateful to have secured a job with a steady income and a location within walking distance of her home. This situation allows her to care for her three children while simultaneously contributing to the family economy, particularly in funding the education of her two eldest children, who are currently in primary and secondary school. “The work does not make us rich, but it is sufficient. It covers daily needs, pays for the children’s schooling, and other expenses; alhamdulillah, it is enough,” she remarked.
