Subdistrict head takes bribery
JAKARTA (JP): The subdistrict head of Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, has allegedly forced residents to give him 1.5 percent of the compensation money they received for their property, which has been appropriated for an outer ring road project.
The residents claim that the subdistrict head, identified only as Abd. Cha, refuses to sign the documents necessary for the residents to claim their payments until he is compensated, Antara reported Saturday.
"He asked my wife for 1.5 percent of the money we expect to receive from the land acquisition committee," a resident, who asked not to be identified, wrote to Antara on Friday.
He said that the amount asked for from his wife amounts to more than Rp 10 million.
According to the residents, the subdistrict head has asked each family in the RW 01 neighborhood and other subdistrict residents for amounts between Rp 700,000 and Rp 2 million, claiming that the money would be used to pay the officials who process the land ownership documents.
