Subang Police Secure Three Suspects in Fake Pesticide Forgery Case
The Tipidter Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division at Subang Police Resort, West Java, has secured three individuals responsible for forging Furadan pesticide, produced in Cikedung Subdistrict, Garut Regency, West Java. The counterfeit pesticide was set to be distributed in Subang and Indramayu Regencies. Subang Police Chief AKBP Dony Eko Wicaksono revealed that the case was uncovered by the Criminal Investigation Division team on Monday (30/3) in the Pusakanagara area of Subang. From the operation, the Tipidter Unit secured UK and SP, who were caught transporting 1,400 pieces of fake pesticide using a Grand Max vehicle. Examination revealed that the production of the fake pesticide took place in Cikedung Subdistrict, Garut Regency. To further the investigation into the fake pesticide case, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, at around 01:45 WIB in the early hours, the Criminal Investigation team developed leads in Garut and successfully arrested suspect RM along with evidence of fake pesticide and production equipment. The Police Chief stated that the secured evidence underwent laboratory testing, with input from expert witnesses from the Ministry of Agriculture and the West Java Industry and Trade Office regarding product quality, as well as from the trademark owner company on quality control. “From the laboratory test results, it was proven that the pesticide was fake, both in terms of ingredients and packaging, thus greatly harming farmers,” said AKBP Dony Eko Wicaksono in his press release on Tuesday (7/4) afternoon. The suspects admitted to producing the fake pesticide since January 2026 in a warehouse in Cikedung Subdistrict, Garut Regency. “The production of the fake pesticide was done based on orders. Production capacity reached 1,000-1,500 pieces per batch,” explained the Police Chief. The fake pesticide was made by mixing sifted sand with agricultural chemicals, dye, and water, then packaged to resemble the genuine product using fake packaging, sealed, and distributed or sold to farmers in Subang and Indramayu. “The fake pesticide was distributed in Subang and Indramayu Regencies at a price of Rp 150,000 per piece, much cheaper than the genuine product which costs Rp 350,000 per piece on the market,” he said. To date, investigators are developing leads on the source of the packaging and production equipment, the distribution network, including buyers, and possible other involved parties. The evidence secured from the perpetrators includes 1,740 pieces of fake Furadan 3GR pesticide, 2 kg size, ready for distribution; 540 pieces of plastic bag packaging for Furadan 3GR pesticide; 28 cardboard boxes for packaging; 1 unit sealing machine; 1 set of production machines; 4 sacks of sifted sand; and 1 Grand Max vehicle. The perpetrators face charges under Articles 1, 2, 3 in conjunction with Article 77 paragraph 1 of Law No. 22 of 2019 or Article 62 paragraph 1 in conjunction with 8 letters E and F of Law No. 8 of 1999.
