Jakarta (ANTARA) - Kebayoran Baru Sub-district Head Rachmat Mulyadi has requested that neighbourhood chiefs (lurah) and Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers monitor problematic cables following an accident involving an SMAN 6 student on Jalan Lauser, South Jakarta. “As a precautionary measure, the lurah and PPSU officers will continue to monitor their respective areas intensively,” Rachmat told reporters on Jalan Lauser, Jakarta, Thursday. He expressed concern that loose and dangling cables could endanger road users. Therefore, going forward, his office will increase oversight of problematic cables in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta. “We continue to monitor and tidy up cables that are in very poor condition so they do not disrupt traffic flow or endanger residents,” Rachmat said. The victim fell and was run over by a passing school bus. The school bus has been temporarily secured by the South Jakarta Metro Police traffic accident unit, and the victim was taken to the nearest hospital. The incident resulted in two victims: one fatality and one injured. Meanwhile, the South Jakarta City Administration and its staff have expressed their deepest condolences and prayed for the best for those affected by the incident.
