Suadesa Peduli: PGN Promotes Environmental, Social Awareness and Economic Potential in Sleman
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), the Gas Subholding of Pertamina, is promoting environmental and social awareness among the people of Sleman through its CSR programme, Suadesa Peduli Lingkungan. The activity, held at Taman Budaya Lohjinawi, Sleman, on Friday (21/8/2026), was realised through the planting of hundreds of tree seedlings and the exchange of affordable basic food packages.
The activity is part of the Suadesa Festival 2026 series, whose peak will take place on 22–23 August 2026. Tree planting was carried out in the Kalurahan Sinduharjo area, involving the community as well as teachers and students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) 2 Sleman.
Panewu (District Head) of Ngaglik, Edy Wibowo, appreciated PGN’s initiative and expressed hope that the activity would mark the beginning of sustainable collaboration between the company, the government, and the community.
“We hope this activity does not stop as a first event, but can continue so that its benefits are felt more widely by the community,” said Edy.
According to Edy, Kapanewon (District) Ngaglik has significant development potential, with a population of around 107,000 and a strategic position in the education, economy, and tourism sectors. Therefore, collaboration with various parties is considered a potential lever for regional development.
“Communication and collaboration need to be continuously built so that programmes can be aligned with the needs and potential of the community, particularly in Sinduharjo,” he said.
PGN’s Division Head of CSR, Krisdyan Widagdo Adhi, said that Suadesa Peduli is part of PGN’s efforts to build collaboration with the community and government in developing regional potential sustainably.
“PGN wants to be present as a partner for the government and the community, not only through social and environmental programmes, but also by encouraging economic potential, SMEs, culinary ventures, and tourism in the Ngaglik and Sinduharjo areas,” said Krisdyan.
According to him, the tree planting is directed not to stop as a greening activity, but to be developed into productive green spaces. Several types of fruit trees such as mango, longan, and rambutan were prepared so that in the future they can provide economic benefits as well as support the development of agro-tourism.
In addition to the environmental programme, PGN also presented an affordable basic food package exchange. The community could obtain a package containing 5 kilograms of rice, sugar, cooking oil, coffee, milk, and tea for only Rp50,000. Proceeds from the programme will be channelled to help communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
“We want the Suadesa Festival to be not only a space to celebrate the community’s potential, but also to bring benefits to those in need. This spirit of mutual cooperation is also realised through support for communities affected by the disaster in NTT,” he said.
