The number of stunting cases in Central Java Province has reached more than 178,000 as of August 2026. The Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, stated that, in percentage terms, stunting cases in Central Java are still lower than the national average.

“In Central Java today, stunting stands at 9.77%, which is below the national figure. This means we are performing better. It signifies that the management is already effective because we are ahead of the national rate,” Lujuphi remarked when speaking to the media after attending a coordination meeting for the prevention and acceleration of stunting reduction for the Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara regions in Semarang on Tuesday (22/09/2026).

He noted that there are two regencies in Central Java with low stunting percentages, namely Semarang and Demak. “I will use these as models for other regencies and cities to follow,” he said.

“There are indeed three regencies/cities where the control range is significantly wider, including Wonosobo, Purbalingga, and Banjarnegara. We will intervene in these areas through the relevant departments,” Luthfi added.

According to Luthfi, managing stunting cases requires cooperation and collaboration between the central and regional governments. “Therefore, stunting management is a comprehensive shared responsibility to ensure Central Java, and the nation, moves towards the upcoming Indonesia Gold 2045 vision,” he concluded.
