Stung by Governor's Remarks on Beggars and Tramadol, Cimahi Mayor Admits Shame Over Crime in 'City of Soldiers'
Cimahi Mayor Ngatiyana has responded to a rebuke from West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi regarding the circulation of certain hard drugs (OKT). Ngatiyana stressed that the Cimahi city government will eradicate places that sell OKT illegally as well as acts of thuggery that disturb the public.
“His (the West Java Governor’s) order is to be impartial in resolving violence and begal (street robberies). This includes the circulation of narcotics and hard drugs, which must be resolved immediately,” said Ngatiyana in Cimahi on Wednesday (4/8/2026).
In the near future, he said, the Cimahi city government will coordinate with the Cimahi City Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) to discuss the eradication of places suspected of selling OKT freely, or without a permit, as well as acts of thuggery. “We will hold a meeting with Forkopimda to immediately take firm action against elements that disturb the public. It is a shame that Cimahi is a military town but still has begal, violence, and so on,” he said.
