While many students focus on coursework and campus activities, Raka Aditya Aripin has chosen a different path. Fourth-semester student at Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Tasikmalaya Campus, known as a Creative Digital Campus, has successfully run a tilapia farming business while continuing his studies. Raka proves that youth is no barrier to starting a business. Initially seeking productive activities outside lectures, he ventured into tilapia farming, gaining valuable experiences not found in classrooms. ‘I wanted to have productive activities beyond studying. That’s when I started trying tilapia farming. It turned out to offer many experiences and lessons, especially in managing a business effectively,’ Raka said in a statement on Friday, 29 May 2026. Balancing business and studies is no easy feat. Raka must juggle attending lectures, completing assignments, and managing his growing business. However, through discipline and consistency, he maintains a healthy balance. Not only does the business provide extra income, it also serves as hands-on learning in business management, marketing, and overcoming challenges in the commercial world. In response, Dini Silvi Purnia, Coordinator of UBSI’s BSI Entrepreneur Center (BEC) Tasikmalaya Campus, praised students who dare to start businesses while studying. ‘Students like Raka show young people have great potential to grow through entrepreneurship. Running a business during studies provides crucial experience for the workforce or building independent ventures in the future,’ she said. According to Dini, UBSI’s BEC continues to encourage students to create business opportunities. Various training programs, business coaching, and mentoring are available to help students turn ideas into reality. The phenomenon of student entrepreneurship is growing. Many young people are realising that university is not just for gaining knowledge but also for building experience and financial independence early on. Raka’s story inspires that success doesn’t have to wait until graduation. With courage to try, willingness to learn, and hard work, students can create opportunities and prepare a brighter future. From his tilapia farming pond, Raka demonstrates that big dreams can start with simple steps. Amidst busy studies, he has proven students can be productive young entrepreneurs.
