REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The habit of people enjoying entertainment at home has been increasing in recent years. Watching films, digital series, and even sporting events is now often done together with family in the living room.

This shift in entertainment consumption patterns has also driven growth in the home audio equipment market. An industry research report from Deep Market Insight and Global Growth Insight notes that the home entertainment segment accounts for around 65 percent of total usage of the global soundbar market. The Asia-Pacific region is also among the regions with the fastest growth.

The research shows that audio quality is one of the key elements of the viewing experience. Clarity of dialogue and depth of sound are seen as helping viewers enjoy various programmes more comfortably.

Director of PT Supertone, Raymond Tedjokusumo, said many television users still pay more attention to screen size than to sound quality.

“Many people focus on the big screen, but the viewing experience will not be optimal without adequate audio support,” Raymond said in a statement on Sunday (8 March 2026).

According to him, the living room today is not only a place to watch television, but also a gathering space to enjoy various entertainment together.

Seeing this trend, several electronics manufacturers are starting to introduce home audio devices to improve the sound quality of television. One example is PT Supertone with the launch of a soundbar branded SPC that includes a wireless microphone for family entertainment at home.

The moment of gathering at home is expected to rise further this year, including during Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and various international sports events such as the World Cup. At those times, the activity of watching together with family usually increases.

This condition is expected to continue driving growth in the home entertainment devices market as digital content consumption and smart TV usage rise.
