Students top STD case list

MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara: Among the recorded cases of
sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), students top the list at 36
percent, business people with 15.6 percent and civil servants are
in third place at 11.7 percent, according to the family planning
office here.

Norbertus Turwewi said on Saturday in Kalabahi, the capital of
Alor regency, that the figures were based on data collected by
the provincial chapter of the National Family Planning Board.

He said the figures reflected the low knowledge of sexually
transmitted diseases including the spread of the Human
Immnodeficiency Virus (HIV), which can lead to AIDS.(yac)
