Students to monitor Bengkulu elections
BENGKULU: Students from various universities in Bengkulu have
expressed their readiness on Monday to monitor the elections of
regional heads in the province on June 27.
"Students want the elections conducted fairly and
transparently and this can be done by monitoring the voting and
the vote-counting processes," said secretary of Bengkulu
University Student Executive Body, Mahyudi Okmantik.
By monitoring the elections, he said the students hoped the
leaders elected would be those chosen by the people.
A student from Muhammadiyah University in Bengkulu, Muksin,
said students should monitor the elections since there were not
enough observers register to do the job. "We don't want the
elections to be engineered," he said. -- Antara
