Students to join maritime course
JAKARTA: In a bid to preserve the country's maritime resources, the Indonesian Sea Conservation Foundation (YLLI) will hold a Summer Field Course on Sangihe Talaud islands, North Sulawesi from July 8 to Aug. 6.
The course will provide 30 participants from the eastern part of the country with knowledge of the outer islands, the country's tourism sector and conservation.
Final year students with a major in fisheries and oceanography are eligible to take the course and receive four credits from the course.
The first week of the course will focus on general knowledge of the oceans. The second and third week will include data gathering, followed by a presentation and discussion with local residents. -- JP.
