Students to be mobilized

JAKARTA (JP): The West Jakarta Office of the Education and
Culture Ministry will mobilize 5,200 students and 2,400 teachers
to join the Kenduri National gala party at the National Monument
(Monas) square, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.

The event, to be attended by President First Lady Mrs. Tien
Soeharto and Vice President and his wife Mrs. Try Sutrisno, will
be held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's
independence.

"Student participation in the party is expected to arouse
their spirit of patriotism," head of the office, Alung Jaharun,
told reporters.

Through patriotism, according to Jaharun, the students are
expected to be more responsible and disciplined. (29)
