Students stage rally at campus
BOGOR (JP): Dozens of Juanda University students staged a rally at their campus on Thursday to demand Bogor police end their investigation of students suspected of killing an intelligence officer during a clash between protesters and police in May.
However they stopped their action immediately after being assured by their rector, Abdi Soetisna, that police have given a verbal assurance that the cases will be dropped. He also said that the suspects -- T.B. Ade, Emon Mulyadi and Syaefulloh -- have had their full rights restored. All spent several weeks in police custody after the ill-fated protest in May.
Police accused the students of killing Second Lt. Dadang Rusmana during a mob attack. The dead officer was the chief of the Bogor police detectives unit.
Police believed the detective died of wounds sustained during the mobbing, but Yuli Budiningsih, a PMI hospital forensics expert who carried out a postmortem examination on the victim, insisted Dadang died of a heart attack. (24/emf)
