Jakarta (ANTARA) – Intan Mayundaya, a graduate of SMK Wiyata Mandala Bakti, is relieved to have finally received her diploma, which had been withheld by her school because of financial difficulties.

Intan is one of 683 beneficiaries of the second phase of the 2026 Diploma Release Programme from the North Jakarta Education Sub-agency area.

“I’m really happy to receive assistance through this diploma release programme,” Intan said in Jakarta on Thursday.

She said many of her former classmates had also been unable to collect their diplomas because they had not paid their school fees in full. “Now the government is helping us so we can get our diplomas,” she said.

Intan said the programme was a great help to graduates facing similar difficulties. With her diploma now in her possession, she feels more at ease about pursuing her career.

“Previously, I applied for jobs using a certificate of graduation. Thank God, I can now get my diploma,” she said.

The North Jakarta City Administration has paid to release 683 students’ diplomas from various levels of education through the second phase of the 2026 programme, allocating Rp1.17 billion.

The funding came from the National Zakat Agency (Baznas)/North Jakarta Zakat Agency (Bazis) to assist residents and students facing financial hardship.

“The diploma release programme reflects the Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment to ensuring that people can exercise their right to education and obtain valid graduation documents,” North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat said in Jakarta on Thursday.

He said diplomas play an important role in a person’s future, both for pursuing higher education and as a requirement for entering the workforce.

“A diploma is not merely a piece of paper, but proof of a person’s effort and learning, and a foundation for further education or entering the world of work,” he said.
