Students Rally at Jampidsus Building, Demand Corruption Probe Without Selective Prosecution

Students from the alliance of Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTM) staged a demonstration outside the Office of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday (20 July 2026).

During the action, they voiced demands that the handling of alleged corruption and money laundering cases be carried out transparently, professionally, and without selective enforcement. The protesters also urged law enforcement officials to thoroughly investigate the cases currently being handled, evaluate the performance of law enforcement institutions, and strengthen the commitment to eradicating corruption in Indonesia.

The protest briefly turned tense, with pushing and shoving as some participants attempted to approach the main gate of the Attorney General’s Office. Security personnel subsequently appealed to the crowd to express their views in an orderly manner in accordance with prevailing regulations.

Some participants burned banners and posters as a form of protest against the handling of the alleged corruption cases. The action took place under police supervision.

Police personnel formed barricades in front of the entrance to the Attorney General’s Office complex to prevent the crowd from approaching the building area during the protest.

A total of 706 combined personnel from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, and district police stations were deployed to secure the demonstration and ensure it proceeded in an orderly and conducive manner.
