Students Rally at Jampidsus Building, Demand Corruption Probe Without Selective Prosecution

Students from the Muhammadiyah Higher Education (PTM) alliance staged a protest in front of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) building at the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Monday (20/7/2026). The demonstrators demanded transparent, professional, and impartial handling of an alleged corruption and money laundering case linked to former Jampidsus official Febrie Adriansyah. They also urged law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the case without selective prosecution, evaluate the performance of all law enforcement apparatus, and called on the government to eradicate all corrupt practices. The protest saw minor scuffles as some participants attempted to approach the main gate of the Attorney General’s Office, prompting security officers to urge the crowd to express their opinions in an orderly manner. Several protesters burned banners and posters as a form of protest against the handling of the alleged corruption case. Police personnel formed a barricade in front of the entrance to the Attorney General’s Office complex to prevent the crowd from approaching the building area during the action. A total of 706 joint personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, and sector police were deployed to secure the demonstration. The students continued to voice demands for law enforcement to investigate the alleged corruption professionally, transparently, and without selective prosecution, while also urging an evaluation of law enforcement officers’ performance to strengthen public trust in the legal process in Indonesia.
