Students Protest at Constitutional Court, Demand Andrie Yunus Case Be Brought to General Court
A group of students held a rally behind the Constitutional Court (MK) building in Central Jakarta. They demanded justice and transparency in the investigation of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
Observations at the location on Wednesday (8/4/2026) showed several students wearing their respective university jackets. They also carried banners and posters containing demands.
They requested that the investigation into the acid attack on Andrie Yunus be brought to the general court. They also demanded justice for Andrie Yunus.
“Eliminate impunity, soldiers who violate the law = try in the general court,” read one of the posters carried by the students.
The students stated they were ready to monitor the Andrie Yunus case. They were concerned that acid attacks could later occur against civil society members.
“We are here to fight for justice. We might monitor the Andrie Yunus case,” said one student in his speech.
“Today it might be Andrie Yunus, maybe later it could be us, friends. Will you stay silent, friends? Do you not care about our friend, friends?” he continued.
Several police officers were seen guarding the location. Traffic in the area appeared congested.
