Students protest against principal

CIREBON, West Java: More than 400 students of High School 8 in Lemahwungkuk district unfurled banners and waved placards at the local legislative council on Monday in protest against their authoritarian principal.

The students reported to council's secretary that Principal Ruhyat Natadipura applied arbitrary policies regarding their school activities, Antara reported.

For the past four months, the students have not had English and Biology lessons because there were no teachers available. A temporary Biology teacher refused to continue teaching because the principal reprimanded him before the students.

In addition, the students said, Ruhyat often denied them permission to do extracurricular activities. (swe)
