Students of Aceh Besar Public School Distribute Free Breaking-of-Fast Meals
On that afternoon, the atmosphere in front of Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Atas (SRMA) 1 Aceh Besar appeared markedly different from usual. A number of students stood by the roadside holding boxes of takjil, greeting passing motorists with smiles and distributing breaking-of-fast meals with warmth.
The takjil distribution activity was part of the Ramadan series of activities involving students of SRMA 1 Aceh Besar together with teachers, guardians, and residential supervisors. Since early afternoon, the students had gathered in the residential kitchen to prepare various takjil menus to be distributed to the community.
The students’ efforts proved worthwhile as the community appeared enthusiastic upon receiving the free takjil from the students. A resident named Ahmad expressed appreciation for the activity.
“We are grateful and thankful for the care of the children and the school. We hope activities like this continue because they are very helpful to the community, especially for those still en route as the time to break the fast approaches,” Ahmad said on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
Meanwhile, one of the students, Abdul Qodir, expressed happiness at being directly involved in the sharing activity. He stated that this experience left a deep impression on him.
“I feel happy seeing the community smiling when receiving the takjil. In the future I will try to be able to share more often with many people,” he said.
As the time to break the fast approached, the series of activities continued with a sermon themed on Nuzulul Qur’an (the revelation of the Qur’an) delivered by a religious studies teacher from SRMA 1 Aceh Besar. After that, all students, teachers and educational staff (GTK), as well as employees and leaders of Sentra Darussa’adah conducted communal breaking of the fast in an atmosphere full of togetherness and fellowship.
Rizki Hawalaina, the event coordinator and English teacher at SRMA 1 Aceh Besar, stated that this activity was designed to foster a sense of empathy and social concern among students.
“Through this activity, students are expected to experience the pleasure of sharing and be motivated to continue doing good to many people,” she said.
Rizki also explained that the activity conducted on Monday (16 March) also served as a means of strengthening ties of kinship between all employees and students within the environment of Sentra Darussa’adah and SRMA 1 Aceh Besar.
Head of SRMA 1 Aceh Besar, Ilza Satriadi, also expressed appreciation for the successful implementation of the activity. He expressed hope that the takjil distribution and communal breaking-of-fast programme could become a routine annual agenda.
“We hope that this activity, full of the value of togetherness and concern, can continue to be implemented sustainably as part of character building for students,” he said.
