Students nabbed for drugs

TANGERANG: Tangerang Police arrested 19 teenagers,
one of whom is a suspected drug dealer, on Thursday evening, near
Kota Bumi Market in Pasar Kemis district for drugs possession.

Police detective chief Insp. Kustanto told The Jakarta
Post that most of the teenagers were students at a senior
high school in Kuta Bumi, they had bought the drugs for a
marijuana party scheduled for Saturday night.

Kustanto said he sent his officers there following a tip-off
from local residents who claimed to have frequently seen students
buying drugs from an alleged dealer identified as 20-year old
Topan, a resident of Kutabumi village.

The police seized 18 small packets of marijuana from each of
the teenagers and eight small packets from the dealer.

According to the students, they had bought the drugs from
Topan, who charged Rp 10,000 for each small packet and were
intending to use the drugs for a farewell school party on
Saturday night.--JP
