A group of armed bandits wielding machetes robbed a student’s motorbike during daylight in Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java (Jabar), with the incident going viral on social media. Police are currently investigating the case.

“Yes, the victim has filed a report. We are in the process of investigation, God willing we will apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible,” said Cileungsi Police Chief Kompol Edison when questioned about the viral video on Monday, 25 May 2026.

In the viral CCTV footage reviewed by detikcom, two suspected bandits were seen walking through a residential area. They passed several children before heading towards a path lined with trees.

The footage then showed the victim riding a motorbike, shortly after the two men walked ahead of them. The victim stopped at a curved road, and shouts of a robbery were heard from the location.

Inspector Ari Badau Dwi Haryanto, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Cileungsi Police Station, stated the incident occurred on Saturday, 23 May, around 12:00 WIB. At the time of the incident, the victim was on their way home from school riding a motorbike.

“The child was coming from school, which is at SMA 2 Negeri Setu, heading towards Cipenjo. The incident happened at the border but within Cileungsi’s jurisdiction. It occurred on Saturday at noon,” Ari Badau said in a separate interview.

Ari explained that the two suspects had hidden in bushes and ambushed the victim. Both suspects threatened the victim with machetes, warning they would slash them if they didn’t hand over the motorbike.

“At that moment, the suspects immediately intercepted and threatened the victim. There were two perpetrators; one of them wielded the machete, according to the victim’s statement. The victim got off and ran for help, but no one came to assist. Then the suspects fled with the motorbike,” Ari said.

“The victim was threatened; there were no injuries, but there were threats such as, ‘Get off, or I’ll slash you’,” he added.

Ari stated that the police are still investigating the case. They have secured CCTV footage to gather clues and identify the suspects.

“We have checked and processed the crime scene, and we have also secured the CCTV. Currently, the investigation is ongoing; hopefully the perpetrators will be identified soon. The location (crime scene) is somewhat remote from residential areas, more like a plantation area,” Ari said.
