Buleleng, Bali - A high-achieving student from Madyama Widyalaya Jnana Dharma Sastra school in Buleleng Regency, Bali, Ni Luh Deta Ayu Padma Sari, believes that the implementation of PP Tunas takes into account children in Indonesia to focus on achieving excellence in education. “I think the benefit of efforts to strengthen child protection in the digital space is helping me focus more on learning activities. So far, I often get distracted by social media while doing assignments,” said Ni Luh Deta Ayu Padma Sari in Buleleng, Bali, on Saturday. PP Tunas refers to Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection, which serves as a technical guideline for digital platforms in carrying out child protection obligations in the digital space. She explained that as a student, she is inseparable from the use of digital devices in daily life, both for learning and entertainment. According to her, the presence of these restriction rules serves as an important reminder for students to be wiser in utilising technology, especially social media like Instagram and TikTok. She admitted that she is now starting to be more selective in choosing the content she accesses, prioritising materials that support learning over mere entertainment. “Now I more often look for maths videos or apps. Coincidentally, that subject is what led me to achieve success up to the national level. The material in the videos really helps me understand the lessons,” she revealed. Furthermore, she said, social media often distracts her with unbeneficial content. However, with guidance from teachers and parents, as well as the strengthening of child protection policies in the digital space, she is starting to be able to manage her time and priorities in using electronic devices. “Support from the school is very helpful in directing students towards more productive use of technology. Our teachers at Madyama Widyalaya Jnana Dharma Sastra not only give assignments but also recommend safe and quality learning platforms,” she explained. In addition, she feels the role of the family is quite significant. Parents set time limits for gadget use and encourage her to stay focused on learning activities, especially in deepening calculation skills and problem-solving. “Previously, parents have often reminded about limits on social media content. I often get reminded, and I think this regulation will further provide understanding to my parents at home,” Deta concluded.
