Two vocational secondary schools (SMK) in Gianyar Regency are participating in the selection for the provincial-level cybersecurity competition for public and private SMK IT majors across Bali Province. If they pass the selection for the competition titled Junior Sentinel Challenge (JSC) 2026, the selected students from the schools will compete at the provincial level.

“Later, the team that achieves the highest score will represent the regency/city at the provincial level,” said the Head of the Informatics Division of the Bali Province Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office (Diskominfos), I Putu Sundika, in his statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

Sundika stated that the participants from Gianyar are students from SMK Negeri 1 Gianyar and SMK Negeri 1 Sukawati. These students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in the field of cybersecurity.

The students will only compete in teams. The preliminary round or selection is no longer held in an individual format.

“This third-year implementation includes several improvements, including the use of a team format replacing the individual format, as well as holding the preliminary round in each regency/city,” said Sundika.

During the selection round, the students’ digital skills will be tested in a capture the flag system competition. This includes system security analysis, solving cyber challenges, critical thinking abilities, and problem-solving in information technology.

Of course, all participants are expected to demonstrate their best abilities. The spirit of collaboration and sportsmanship during the competition should be prioritised.

“We appreciate SMK Negeri 1 Gianyar and SMK Negeri 1 Sukawati for showing enthusiasm and eagerness to participate in this activity,” he said.

Sundika stated that the participation of students from these two schools is an effort to encourage the enhancement of human resource capacity in cybersecurity. Secondly, it is to strengthen digital literacy among Bali’s youth.

“Gianyar is hosting the JSC 2026 preliminary round. This activity is a positive step in preparing Bali’s human resources amid the increasingly rapid development of information technology,” he said.
